On Saturday, November 17th, Pastor Emeka Agwu and Voice of Evangelism International celebrated their One Year Anniversary with a Banquet at the Marriott Westchase in Houston. Many were there to celebrate the wonderful blessings that God has poured out on their ministry in Houston. Funds were raised during the event to help orphans in Nigeria who are suffering without the love of parents or the material blessings that we take for granted for here in the U.S. Pictures were shown of the work that Mrs. Chizobo Agwu is doing in orphanages in Nigeria.
Yesterday we took some volunteers to Baytown to help in a difficult situation. There was a low-income apartment complex that had been damaged by the storm and all the residents (mostly elderly and disabled) had to vacate their apartments before yesterday at 4 pm. Whatever things weren't out by that time would be lost. We showed up and spoke to the manager who sounded pretty desperate on the phone and she directed us to apartment 211 where an elderly woman stood amidst boxes and bags that took up every square inch of the floor space. By the grace of God, on Saturday, September 20, we had the opportunity to distributing food to 413 families in the community. These families are comprised of: 1131 Children, 87 Youngsters, 1023 Adults. This gives a total of 2241 people whom we could be able to serve. Please do extend our deep appreciation to each and every one of the people who worked to make this possible.
March 1, 2008 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Pastor Rodrigo Fernandez and his wife Dayana celebrated the first anniversary of their church Manantiales de Vida.They have been working hard to win their friends and neighbors for Christ in the northwest area of Houston. There was great praise and worship, special music, a drama and words of encouragement from other LINC pastors and leaders. We praise God for the ministry that is carried out daily by this ministry for the sake of the Gospel.
It is extremely important for a ministry to be open and engaged in the community. Even events that aren't exactly evangelistic in nature can serve to make important contacts with the neighborhood. Centro de Fe y Esperanza held a garage sale and many people came to buy things. One of those who came was a young lady from the community. On March 12, 2008 Pastor Pedro and Erica Jofre celebrated the
graduation ceremony for the ESL classes that are taught by volunteers
from Resurrection Lutheran in Spring. This is the second semester
taught at Resurrection and is providing contacts for the Hispanic
ministry that meets there called Centro de Alabanza.
