NEWS ALERT: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friday April 24, 2009 marked a new team effort between a local company, FMC Technologies and LINC Houston, a faith based non profit active in Ike Relief. FMC Technologies Well Access Systems team was encouraged by President and CEO Peter D. Kinnear to participate in community service projects. Their team was led by Tom Warner. Tom says, “My thanks goes to the staff of LINC Houston for providing a venue and support for this event. I feel like it was successful beyond my expectations, not only for the repairs that were performed on this Ike damaged home, but also for the goal of bonding our group here at FMC Technologies.”
The home owner, a 79 year old Korean War Veteran was in the hospital due to a broken leg. He lives alone and needed assistance to recover. Gwen Franke, Volunteer Director at LINC Houston says, “Local volunteers, like the great people from FMC, are vital to our continued work here in Houston.” The connection of LINC and FMC working together was made possible by Volunteer Houston, who recruits volunteers for Ike Relief among other efforts.
We as a city are only as restored as our neighbors. Our goal is to see a city and its citizens restored. As members of the Greater Houston Long Term Recovery Committee, we meet weekly with other non profits to continue our work. For many, Ike is a daily tragedy that does not go away. Many hard working individuals still have not recovered and need assistance in getting their lives and homes restored. Hurricane Ike was a devastating event for many on the Gulf Coast.
